  1. I found out by accident that I can create DVDs using only a CDRW drive. However the resulting disc plays on my pc, and both media player and WinDVD show it as a DVD, but it will not play on my DVD player connected to my TV, it ejects it after a few seconds.
Has anyone any experience of this, I hope I may be able to change some software settings on the recorder to get my DVD player to accept it.
Any help appreciated, thanks in advance.

You're probably creating a VCD or SVCD.

You can't burn a DVD on a CD-RW drive. Period.

  3. Thats what I thought, but a VCD or SVCD shows as such on WinDVD, the disc I created shows as a DVD, I know it sounds impossible though.

It's called a miniDVD. The problem is that few DVD standalone's support playback of miniDVD. Playback is more often found cheap no name brands. Any DVD player using a Media-Tek chipset will support it.

These play miniDVD for sure. Is miniDVD playback inclued in this sites DVDplayer listings?
