Has anyone ripped "Pirates of the Caribbean" using DVDDecrypter or Smartripper and specified a single big VOB file as the output?
I just ripped Pirates of the Caribbean to my hard drive using two different programs: DVDDecrypter vs. Smartripper. I ripped only the main movie, the main AC3 audio and no subtitles. The only strange thing I did was set the minimum VOB size to 9000 MB in both programs. This gives me a single VOB file which is easier to work with. The weird thing is that I get a different VOB file size from each program. They are pretty close, but not exactly the same.
If anyone has this movie, I would love to know if they see the same thing. If you could tell me the exact file size in bytes (right-click the VOB file and select properties). Or has anyone ever compared the two programs with any other movie?
The reason I even tried this experiment was because I was having trouble editing my VOB with Womble's MPEG Video Wizard and I was getting suspicious that there might have been an error in the VOB. I am not experienced enough to know what happens if the encryption goofs up, or if my DVD disk has a flaw in it (would I even know it?).
I got really suspicious when DVDShrink crashed in the middle of shrinking it down to DVD-5. I think the error messages said "copy protection error".
Any help would be appreciated.
