  2. I haven't tried this specific drive (I have the Sony DRU-700a)

Sony is the only place currently shipimg DL media, at $15 a pop.
CDW as a starter kit listed (1 DL, 1 RW, 8 R) but they are not shipping yet.

Go to SonyStyle.com ; Search for DRU-700a it is is in the Accessories for the drive.

So far I have tested one disk. Works fine in a PC-DVD drive, but had problems in it's intended target DVD unit (A CAVS-202g Karaokee player).

  3. I did see that same product on Super Media Store.

I see that it says, "(1) DVD+R DL 2.4X". Does that mean the other 9 are just single layer DVDs?

  6. rumor has it that it's a rebadge of the nec-2510a. which is a very good burner, but why buy from compusa when you can buy the real nec burner from newegg for nearly the same price without dealing with the mail in rebates... even better option would be buying the nec-2500a and apply herries firmware hack (with it you'll get the dual layer, bitsetting, and faster burning speeds...) and save a few bucks...

I will verify that it is the NEC 2510a. I just got one and its printed on the sticker on the drive. They didn't even rebadge it.

Now I am hunting for DL media.... Any thoughts on where to find just DL media not 1 disc out of 10 (like verbatim is selling them)?

My other burner is a Sony. I got this so I could do bit setting. I love my sony but I need to be able to set those bits!
