I've alredy read the thread on TMPGENC tips and it said to set the directshow multimedia file reader to 2. It was at 3 by default while I experienced the problem. So I set it to 2, samething. The problem is whenever I load the movie and click start, it just freezes up and then says it has to shutdown. Before my pc crashed, I was able to convert Xvid videos no problem. I can convert DIVX and other avi files, just not xvid. I have the neccessary codecs installed. I can play the movie in WMP just fine. I can even convert with Allvideoconverter; I just can't with TMPGENC now.
Here is the info on the xvid movie

  2. try scanning the avi for bad frames using virtualdub.

you could also try uninstalling/reinstalling tmpgenc.

It has ac3 audio so you should just encode the video and bring in the audio in the authoring stage.

In my post, I stated that it freezes when I click start. Doesn't matter what part (Audio or Video) of the movie I try to convert

Its unlikely to freeze before you hit start is it.

TMPGenc doesn't like ac3 audio which your file has .

Files with ac3 need to be handled in a certain way have a look at this guide , it may help.
