.ax open problem

Whenever I try to install a codec I get this error

error opening file for wrighting:

"C:\Windows\System32\ffdshow.ax"

I also get the same error messege whenever I try to install any audio/video-xvid/divx codec
what do I do to resolve this problem?

I would first of all uninstall ffdshow , it actually gave me more problems than it resolved.
Do it in Add/Remove Programmes

Then try installing your codecs.

If you need ffdshow you can easily reinstall it afterwards if you find you need it.
