i have a movie that is pretty good quality svcd (3 disks), can i put them on a dvdr and be able to play them on m standalone dvd player.
dvd player plays vcd svcd dvd and cd audio

Yes. Dvdlab will author them easily.
If you find that they're just slightly too large, you can also crop the credits from the end in dvdlab.
There is other authoring software that can do it, but I don't think they offer the flexibility of dvdlab.Cheers, Jim

Got to the green "all guides" section, click on format conversion, select SVCD to DVD. Lots of good guides.
An SVCD on DVD is not in spec for DVD because of the 480x480 resolution. You can try one and see if it works on your machine. For maximum compatibility you will need to re-encode, 352x480 is best.."Art is making something out of nothing and selling it." - Frank Zappa
