i have a couple year old computer and the dvd rom that came with it is rated 16x, but when i try to rip a movie with it i usually only get a max of 3 or 4 MB/s- when running dvdshrink, is the slow speed dvdshrink slowing down the dvd-rom while it is dong the compression.
maybe my slower p4 1.3Ghz is causing slower compression rate thus slowing down the dvd rom in the process.
when i ran a test on the dvd rom drive with nero tools, i tested a 4.1 GB data disk and i read at a max of 13x. so im not sure
also i checked the dma settings on my secondary ide channel where my optical drives are located and they are at dma2, my primary channel where my hd's are is at dma 5.
any suggestions to maybe get better dvd rip times ?????

Very fast DVD5 ripper, decent with DVD9s. The Pioneer DVD-120 is faster with DVD9s, but not available anymore it seems.
Best of Luck,
