  1. I've come across a website in Australia which do carry them at reasonable price, but I have a concern that it looks like they are not very popular, because the only info I can find about it here at the DVD Media section is only 2x, and http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm have no infomation about it at all.

Can any people let me know if I should go ahead to buy it or not?

  2. I would hope they are the best! Never seen anything bad about them.

how much better than TY? who knows... seems like very few spend the extra $$ on them, so that makes their mark-up even more, I'll guees they should only be 10-15% more than TY but usually they are almost double. Why well, TY is about the most expensive already so most aren't looking to ay more , making Mitsui a VERY specialty product.
I trust TY, never had anything from them fail in 7 years. or I would try them for important things.

  3. Bought a spindle of MAM-E media (MCI4XG01=Mitsui chemicals) and all I got were coasters.
I haven't burned them with the newest firmware yet because my burner still doesn't recognize it as 4x media and I think that isn't a good sign
Mitsui media doesn't seem to match with my writer.
If u need high quality and reliable media, go with Taiyo yuden, Mitsubishi Chemicals or Maxell. I've burned lots of discs from those manufacturers and not a single issue yet.

Have you noticed that a slight tax increase costs you two hundred dollars and a substantial tax cut saves you thirty cents?

I didn't think MCI was mitsubishi chemicals... I thought it was MCC... in which case would be good disks

MAM-E is short for Mitsui Advanced Media-Europe (formerly Mitsui Chemical), did anyone ever discuss Mitsubishi Chemical in this thread? MAM-E DVD discs aren't supported widely by DVD burner manufacturers, and the quality doesn't seem to be that great, either.

MAM-A (America) seems to be a different story, but their discs are expensive:

MERITLINE.COM has them and has carried them for a long time.

I never bought them because they want something like $5.00 each (USA Dollars) which is just an INSANE price considering RIMA.COM has Taiyo Yuden 4x DVD-R discs for $1.10 each (USA Dollars) when bought in 100 packs.

I don't really think Taiyo Yuden can be beat. The Maxell DVD-R discs are also of extremely high quality.

In short I just cannot imagine that Mitsui is worth such a high price!

  8. I have many mitsui golden dye CD-R's burned a few years ago, and they still play fine. I bought that DVD-R spindle 'cause I thought their DVD-R's were of a similar quality.
Sadly, they turn out to be crappy

    www.mediasupply.com has them also.

The MAM-E discs are not regaurded that high. The quality just isn't there. The MAM-A discs are talked about being high quality, but I haven't seen any test reports.

Like FulciLives stated, with Taiyo Yuden, Maxell, and Verbatim being at a decent price, if the MAM discs are higher quality, could you actually tell? Or would it be worth it? In most cases, TY, Maxell, and most Verbatim are close enough to perfect, a couple less PI errors wouldn't mean anything other than bragging rights on the KProbe forum at cdfreaks
