  1. Greetings,
Is there any size limit while encoding AVI --> mpeg (VCD) in nero? I am trying to burn a cd and dragged a 600mb avi file. Nero cries saying "not enough memory" . I am using Nero 5.5.5.1

Let me know if you have any soltuions.

    regards

  2. Use TMpegEncoder to encode *.AVI and use Nero
    to burn your MPEG file.
    Use Video-CD template in TMPEGEncoder

  3. Well ive used Nero a little bit but heres what im thinking, A. not enought memory could mean there isnt enough diskspace for the converting of the file into VCD(mpeg) format. or B. you dont have enough RAM and its just bitching for some obscure reason or C. something that i know is true is that a 600mb compressed AVI file as im sure it is will not fit on a CDR because after the converting of it into MPEG its about 4-5 times larger in size so that would make it 2.4gig -3gig trying to fit on a 650MB or 700MB CDR the best way to tell if you can fit a file or files on a VCD is there time 650MB-74min same as an audio CD 700MB-80min. so you can try splitting this very large file of yours but who knows what the problem is but hopefully its one that i described

  4. I am having the exact same problem with nero 5.5.5.1, but instead of using 600mb avi, I had already encoded with tmpgenc 12a (beta)(2.1 won't work somehow) and split with same into 2 650~ mb mpegs when I got "not enough memory" error.

My specs, for anyone who knows system requirements:

    128MB ram
    5gb free on HD
    Win ME
    800mhz p3
Acer 6x usb burner (which works fine with Nero and other burners, but so far video hasn't worked, even with the binary burners some1 suggested a few days ago.)

Just wanting to know if this is a system resource issue, b/c the 3 binary burners (fireburner, and the 2 conmand prompt ones) either made coasters or refused to recognize a usb burner.

    Thanks in advance

  5. One more thing...It was CDRWin that didn't recgnize my burner, although the other apps did. It said "no scsi or ide burner installed".Like I said above, mine is USB.

  6. I am also getting size limits when attempting to encode for VCD or SVCD. The time limit is always 4mins41secs which is useless to me. The avi's to be encoded play perfectly via MicrosoftMediaPlayer. I don't get any 'out of memory' messages; none at all in fact. I have 512MB RAM and loads of disc space.....

  7. I had this same problem last night while burning Aliens ... I went to nero's cdspeed (installed with nero) and ran that, I then ran drive speed. Nero works great now! Try this. oh, BTW,

    PII 266 Cyrx
    8X Yamaha burner
    256 Med Ram
    20 Gig HD

Took about 10 hours to encode 700 Megs

  8. Thanks for everybody about your suggestions. However I settled for encoding through TMPEGEncoder and burned it with Nero.

Also would like to mention that mpeg generated from encoding will be always less than avi ( if I am not wrong). I can't guarantee but something chaged since I upgraded to 5.5.5.1. I will reinstall original disk and try it again.

    thanks again.
