I've been planning for a while to buy a TFT monitor, but I'm in two minds now.
I bought a Laptop a while ago, (15" Acer) and while the screen is OK, it's not great for watching DVD's or DIVX videos. (Although I now play all my games on it, it's got a better graphics card than my desktop)
Anyway, are desktop TFT's any better then laptop ones? (I've never really had a chance to sit down and use one).
The model I'm looking at is a Philips 17"
Thanks.

I'm using a Sharp analogue 17" with a 25ms response time on it. It's perfect for gaming and DVD playback. The only trouble with them is that they are now so sharp, colourful and distortion-free that you can see every single artifact in your video!
Why don't you try it before you buy, or go down to a local PC store and see how similar TFTs behave?
