  1. I want to capture from AIW Radeon to native avi, convert to SVCD. What are the best avi settings (640x480, 720x480, framerates, etc.)?, to make the most efficient conversion to SVCD. I keep seeing interlaced, telecine, etc, does this apply to me? or just pal people?
I am capturing from USA, DSS, S-video

  2. For you, 384x480 @ 30fps. You'll need to deinterlace the video and resize to 480x480 for SVCD. (don't worry about the horizontal resize, TV signal has got much 'resolution' in the horizontal direction, and the gains in terms of disk space saved and frames not dropped far outweigh any possible loss of quality).

Audio should be 16 bit 44100Hz stereo PCM.

  3. thank, I'll try that. I can record directly to mpeg2 with the MMC 7.1 with the AIW, but I would rather edit commercials in avi than mpeg.
what about encoding software, I can't seem to find a nondemo of CCE, so whats the next best thing (bbmpeg ?)

  4. shabubu is misinformed. capturing below svcd target resolution for dss(or broadcast tv for that matter) will undoubtedly compromise detail quality. dont deinterlace for svcd(ivtc only exception) and dont give up on cinemacraft so soon

  5. Dame, reading all those kell factor articles for naught, it's a very hot topic though I'd personaly prefer not to drop frames and run out of disc space than gain a slight amount of quality.
