  1. Hey, I hear this is a great place to learn how to burn movies (mpeg's mostly) onto a dvd that will play on a PS2.

I have some movies (mostly old cartoons like GI Joe and Transformers, etc....) that Im looking to burn onto a dvd (I can burn them on my computer)

Now I did this already and tried to play it on my Playstation 2 console, but it didnt work.

So Im assuming there is a step that Im missing, can anyone help or point me in the right direction? I did a search but couldnt find a answer.

Please let me know if you need more info, thanks

    Here's a big tip:

Have a LITTLE patience. 2 hours is not enough time to bump your topic.
Also, read some of the guides on the left.

    ---------------------------------------------------

    Now, on to the problem:

    1. What format are the videos? If they are already DVD compliant, skip to 3.

    2. Run the files through TMPGEnc (load the DVD template first).

    3. Load the DVD compliant files into TMPGEnc DVD Author. It will create the folders for you (VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS). Or you can use Ulead DVD Movie Factory, among others.

    4. Burn to DVD using Nero (as a DVD Video) or your favorite DVD burning software).

It's depends on which model and year the PS2 came out, if it will play -R, +R's or even both.

My question is, did these burnt DVD's work in any other stand alone player? If so, then you may have to try a different media of DVD's +R or -R

Also, just a thought, if you are using a Mod-chip, then you will have to turn it off for the Movies to play on the PS2

    my bad!

    1. What format are the videos? If they are already DVD compliant, skip to 3.
Ok, when you mean format.....you mean mpeg and wav correct? Well I belive they are all mpeg, but what if some are .wav and some are mpeg? Does it matter?

    2. Run the files through TMPGEnc (load the DVD template first).
Can you explain what the TMPGEnc program does????

    4. Burn to DVD using Nero (as a DVD Video) or your favorite DVD burning software).
My computer came with a dvd burn drive, I guess that works the same as Nero....correct? Is there a difference in quality if I use a program like NERO?

    thanks for the reply!!!!!!!!!!

to be honest, after I burned it, I only tried to play it on my PS2......I can try to take it to somoenes dvd player to see if it works there. But would I still need to TMPGNec before I burned it onto a dvd? What exactly does that program do?

If some are .wav then they're audio files and burning them to a dvd will be pointless. DVD has to have mpeg files in a specific format, so you'll need to find out what you have. Read a guide.

Erm, no. A dvd burner is hardware. Nero is software. They both have "ware" in the name but other than that they're kinda not at all the same thing.

    Seriously. Read a guide.

Forget for now the fact that you want to play it on a PS2 , it might confuse what you are trying to acheive.
What you want to do is convert your Mpegs and possibly AVIs to DVD.
Look in the guides for AVI 2 DVD or MPEG 2 DVD.

Looking at the guides for TMPGenc and TMPGenc DVD Author would be a good place to start.

If you click on the names of the programmes in this post it will take you directly to a page where you can find all the related guides.
