  1. I captured a VHS directly to MPEG-2

    video: 704x480 NTSC 29.97
    audio: mpeg 1 layer 2 (224 Kbps, 48 kHz)

I can't capture avi format in my ADS USB Instant DVD. The captured video was ok, it plays fine. Then, I used MPEG-VCR to mark in/out the segment I wanted to record in dvd and saved it with the default options. The result was a program mpeg2 with mpeg audio. The new segment still plays fine, perfectly...so I opened it in TMPGenc to demux and the resulted m2v and mp2 were used with TMPGenc DVD Author to record the dvd.

conclusion: dvd plays fine in standalone dvd player and pc, but is audio/video desynchronized. Also, I tested using DVD-lab to demux and authoring with the same results.

Anyone of you know... how can I author it without the a/v synch problem?
Trying to solve I try to open the captured mpeg2 video with Virtualdub, but can't open it.... says "No video frames found in MPEG file"
    Please, help me, please!!!

Try using tmpgenc dvd author from the start to do your editing,it will let you mark in amd mark out what you want.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

  3. Why did you have to demux? You can load your mpeg2 file directly into TDA.

  4. Take the mpeg you saved in Mpeg-VCR, and then try Ulead DVD MovieFactory. You should have no problems, as that is the way that I always create me DVDs. I have had no problems as of yet. You can try this guide: http://www.dvdguideuk.dsl.pipex.com/dvdguide/editing1/editing1.htm

As others have denoted just drop your ADS MPEG's right in TMPGenc Authoring program or look into DVD MovieFactory V2 or V3... both support clipping content and you will not suffer from out of sync audio.

Another option that I find faster is to use Womple's MPEG Editor (no re-encoding what so ever just by clipping out unwanted sections.

Then taking the resulting MPEG's and burn with authoring proggie de jour.

Also, try testing the authored dvd before you burn it to a disc. After TMPGEnc DVD Author creates the VIDEO_TS folder, open it up in a software player like PowerDVD and see if it goes out of synch.
