Hi, I just bought a Pixelview PlayTV Pro Ultra, and when I capture using s-video, I only get black/white. When I capture in composite, colours are OK. Anyone knows why? I managed to get colour on only 2 occasions, but couldn't capture in colour again since then. Is my card faulty? Thanks.

That or you using the wrong video mode let say you be pick PAL but you forgot check the PAL option and end up being NTSC or other way around dbl check your setting.
One other possable is a bad S/Video cable.

You might want to check your cable. The pins in a standard S-video cable are easy to bend, or miss the connector. Since chroma is carried on a separate set of pins, the general symptom is - no color!

    Thanks for replies.

I chose the right options (S-video input), and am also quite sure the cable is OK.

Any other CX23883 users having problems with the s-video input? Thanks.

  5. Are you using a TBC? Is there any other hardware between your video source and your capture card?

I use a TBC (A DataVideo TBC-1000). If I use the S-Video cables the video is in black and white, but if I use the composite cables the video is in color. This sounds just like your problem, raindance. If I remove the TBC from my capturing setup, the color comes back when using S-Video cables. It appears that the TBC strips out the color on the S-Video output, but I'm not sure.

I called DataVideo and asked about it - the man I talked with did not have an explanation.
