  1. hi there

after several unsuccessful attempts, i managed to get the program working perfectly (much help from previous forum threads).

i converted an Xvid to mpeg-2 using the DVD hi-bitrate preset. the source info is as follows:

    VIDEO: mpeg4, 560x240, 23.98 fps. AUDIO: mp3, 44100 Hz, stereo, 107 kb/s

*problem 1: the video is *slightly* jerky, a very subtle difference between the original avi and the authored DVDR, but enough to be noticeable on handheld pans.

would changing the framerate setting from NTSC FILM to NTSC solve this? Or simply complicate matters?

One clue(?): the authored disc doesn't play in Apple's DVDPlayer, but works perfectly in VLC and MPlayer.

Also: I hit 'best' on the bitrate calculator after loading the preset, and the Video Bitrate dropped from 4000 to 2994. Maybe I should leave it alone?

*problem 2: is there any way to have the final 2 channel audio the default track? I don't have surround support.

I love this app! Thank you major.

    best,

    lokust

Can you also post the info of the encoded movie (open it and send me the same info line).

Did you made 2 audio tracks?

  3. i threw out everything like a fool; this is from one of the VOB files on the authored DVDR:

    VIDEO: mpeg-2, size: 720x480, 23.976 fps, 2994 kbps. AUDIO: mp2, 48000Hz, 224 kbps.

as for the audio thing, i didn't touch anything on the audio tab after i loaded the hi-bitrate DVD preset

    thanks!

  4. Did you try to enable the 3:2 pulldown option? A DVD should be either NTSC or NTSC FILM w/3:2 (or PAL).

  5. Aha. No, I didn't enable this option. Why would the preset forego this?

Any thoughts on the audio? I should mention it registers on VLC (for example) as 'unknown (A52)'...as opposed to 'unknown (mpeg)'. Am I muxing improperly? I have only worked with the resulting video_ts folder when taking a project to toast, so I don't know when I might have gone wrong.

Thanks again for the app (I'm quite aware that "thanks" rings truer with $$!)

  6. *audio issue solved*

I should have looked at the tab closer. Of course I shouldn't leave it set to Channels: 5.1 if I don't want surround support.

sorry for the dumb question. and for bumping.
