  2. Sure,

You can compress it to DivX !! The file will probably be around 600Mb..... just kidding.

You probably want it converted to VCD in order to play it on a VCD/DVD player, right ?
Well, there's no way of compressing a VCD to anything smaller than it is and still keep it VCD compliant. What you CAN do though (but isn't really recommended) is make a XVCD and instead of raising the quality, lowering it. You can do this by changing the audio bitrate to something lower (96kbps or 112 kbps) also Joint Stereo instead of Stereo should help a bit. The most compression is gained by lowering the bitrate of the movie itself. But this also causes great quality loss !!

One thing i can tell you for sure : You'll never get the whole thing on 1 disc and still be able to propperly view it.

My advise to you : Cut the file in half so you have 2 files of 800 (or less) MB. Just burn them as VCD's and you're done. If the files are over 800Mb, try losing the end credits..

    Hope this helps.

  6. Converting from a DivX to (S)VCD is never a good idea, unless the DivX is of really good quality. Since DivX is already compressed there is some quality loss there already. By re-encoding to VCD, which causes even more quality loss, you can only make things worse.

The best thing to do would be to get your hands on the original DVD and rip from that.

Increasing the bitrate can/will create better quality VCD's but will also increase your filesize,
