    I have many xvid encoded video's that i dont know were to even start to encode to svcd. TMPGEnc will not encode them. im not sure if there are other tools out there that can convert xvid to svcd or not.

    TMPGEnc will encode them if you have the codec installed and if you raise the directshow priority (2nd link below).

    Gspot will test a file and tell you if you have the codec.

    well i checked out all the links u guys gave me, and i do have an xvid codec installed (found that out usin G-Spot)thanc u Zippy, and i have direct show at the top of the priority list... so im still lost... and that last link Supreme2k u gave me, i normaly do use VirtualDub to get the wav but as soon as i try to load the Xvid into the video it just closes and says sorry u little dinkis i have no love for u...and then i get mad then the keyboard goes flying through the window and what not...but thats a diferent story. so any ways. *cough*. as i was saying, i do have TMPGEnc Plus, i dunno if theres a difference from other versions or no. PLEASE SOME ONE HELP ME

    Yeah i can play the movies, i usualy use windvd 6 to play my movies but they also work in windows media player, and other shit. but when ever i just try to put it into TGMPEnc it doesnt work... i dont know what im doing wrong.sDJKLFhasjkl;fk;jabsdlfhkb

    ffdshow !!!!!!!!!! it was the key my friends, oh yes my friend it was. k i had a package installed that had all the codecs i needed to WATCH the xvid movies, but i guess it just wasnt good enough for Ms prissy bitch TMPGEnc. and it didnt recognise that it or some shit. so yeah i got her installed and was able to open a xvid movie in TMPGEnc, but thats all iv acheived so far... so well see lol thanx for all the help u guys, ill post a last post if i get it to incode succesfuly.

    ok so TMPGEnc worked with ffdshow so then i found i had xvidcore-1.0.1 installed aswell, so i uninstalled it but then VirtualDub decided to be gay and not work so had to reinstall xvidcore-1.0.1 then it worked to open the xvid in VirtualDub to get the wav .... so u need both lol. wow this is fun... haha its all worth it in the end though!

    So you had a "codec pack" installed. They cause conflicts by installing too many that overlap. It's best to use Gspot to identify the required codecs and only install the ones that are needed.
