  2. Let's hope he gets as much negative publicity as that poor bastard who interfered with the fly ball by the stands in last year's NLCS game 5 between the Cubs and the Marlins. I think he got run out of town for that play

The person in the Cub's and marlin game is little different. that person just was not thinking. Most people might have done the same thing. The person that took the baseball from the little kid is just a jerk.[/code]

I venture to say that action would not have worked out like it did, had it happened in Chicago...the guy who touched that foul ball, had to be escorted from the game over concerns for his safety. What do you think they would have done to a guy abusing a child and mother over a foul ball. I promise you, someone would have jacked that clown up. News cameras would have been at his house the next day...they would announce his name publicly...where he worked....I venture to say that life would have been very different in Chicago for that lad.

No dispute that the guy in Texas is a jerk...but I maintain that there is was not a single guy in the vicinity with any balls or he would have taken the ball from Mr. Jackass and gave it to the kid.

Nutless wonders. Maybe it was bitch day at the ball park...that's all I saw sitting around that lady and her child...a bunch of soft bitches.

You've obviously never had to deal with the Arlington Police (not that I would expect you too, this isn't your area). They crawl all over that place. They are not like big-city cops (tired and push-overs), they're more like small-city cops (dirty and mean).

That bald ******* would surely have started a fight.

I didn't have an issue with Bosox fans until last year and the incident with the Spank-Me's. Maybe it wasn't fair to group Red Sox fans in with Yankee fans based on the one incident. I did enjoy Zimmer's flying tackle attempt at Pedro - crazy old fart :P

Hell, even Cub fans, with their solid gold reputation as being the best fans in the game, dumped beer on the head of an outfielder as he went for a high fly against the ivy. I think it was Lenny Dykstra. Bad news ....I hope it was a visiting fan with the beer and not a local one

I think I've always liked the Red Sox because misery loves company. It's been almost as long for them since they won it all, compared to the sport-leading Cubs (1908). Wasn't the last one for the Red Sox 1918 or something like that? Anyways, it's been a long time for both teams.

The Yankees, on the other hand, prove that you can indeed buy a championship team year after year without going broke like the '97 Marlins. Thanks to the NY market size and TV revenue, they can pay salaries that other small-market teams like the Pirates, the Reds, or the Brewers can only dream about.

I ALWAYS root for Boston when they play the Yankees. In fact, I like the Red Sox more than the White Sox, the other team from my old stomping grounds. I always hope the Red Sox will take it all in the AL. Of course they would have to lose to the Cubs in a World Series, but it could go 7

This lays along the list of great baseball fan screw ups next to Steve Bartman from the recent Cubs game season.

Ok, I just moved here from Austin a year ago. Of course, I'm embarrased to say that in light of this. But, let's see if we can decipher some of this.... Austin area code is 512. Takes care of the first x. Judging by the zip code, the area prefix should be 976. Takes care of the second x. Only leaves 10 possibilities for the entire phone number. Time to set the autodialer......

    512 is correct.

not 976 though...hint: the middle number kind of looks like a "7" but more vertical and the top line is smaller and a tilted

    Isn't 976 a phone sex prefix... ...ummm..I mean...I've heard...976 is a phone sex prefix.

I don't even know if that's the guy, I just ran the name through switchboard.com and 2 of them came up...one in Austin and one in San Antonio :P

still only 100 attempts on the war dialer though

Austin is a 4+ hour drive down Interstate 35 from Arlington, even going 70-75mph (speed limits are 60-70 along the way, 50-55 in those damned construction zones). I doubt it's the same guy unless he was on a daytrip or something.

976 is a commercial "900" area code for sales, often phone sex. Like 1-976-GOOD-SEX or something (one of you can call it to see if that's real, probably is). A number like 512-976-0000 would just be a regular number.

They had a news conference sometime in the past 24-48 hours. The guy is going to write a letter of apology, give back the ball, and buy the family tickets for another Rangers game... and hope the media leaves him alone.

He's left his home and a neighbor has been checking the mail for him. News people were buzzing around his home.

    *******! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

The 976 was just a guess. I am aware of the 916 as well. That one always stuck in my head because where I live now, the area code used to be 916. I should have used a different word than "area" prefix so as to not have it be confused with area "code". I still have many friends in the Austin area who could look the guy up and administer some Texas Justice on his ass! San Antonio is only 85 miles south of Austin on I-35. I'm sure they wouldn't mind checking both houses!

Numbers were easier when I was a kid. All nubers in the city started with 99x, and you didn't even need to dial them. Just the last five.

If anyone capped that news clip, we might be able to tell if it's San Antonio or Austin just by the surroundings.

As far as the 1-976-HOT-GIRL numbers.... I ,err, umm, er...wouldn't know anything about those....

One of my friends is a reporter there (and seems to have covered some of this story). I'm sure I could find out anything I wanted on that guy (but I won't, sorry).

The jerk is from Sachse (pronounced SACK-SEE), one of those hole-in-the-wall redneck towns on the east side of Dallas. I actually expected that. You guys may want to remove those names/numbers of other people, that isn't him. I know his real number/address, but I don't really approve of posting it, no need. That's a little overboard.

In the end, he did the "right thing" but I'm guessing for the wrong reasons. He probably wants everybody to leave him alone and forget this ever happened. I highly doubt it was a "goodness of the heart" issue. At least the kid has a lot of cool new free things. I just hope he likes baseball!

This should teach more dickheads a lesson.

Agreed that going to his house and giving him a good thump in the head is something we'd all want to do, but even in Texas that can land you in the slammer and you'd end up with a police record. Personally, I would lose my security clearance from that and this crack-snack isn't worth it. That would be over the top. Better to humiliate him by showing the video over and over

If it gets to court, that's still a valid defense in all the southern states But if it even gets to court, you've already got an arrest record. Just being arrested, even for a misdemeanor, regardless of the outcome, would put me on the street again

It's not fair, but they aren't required to be fair when issuing top secret clearances. They can revoke it if you're observed in a bar having more than a couple of beers, then hopping in your car. You don't even need to be arrested to lose it. Dave, a buddy in my department, lost his because of his drinking habits.

People in this town frequently hold a bottle of Jim Beam with one hand and the wheel with the other We lead the nation in drunken driving

Besides, I don't think it's illegal to drive with one hand. I've been enjoying my 16" inflatable ..........oops ....that's for another thread another day

well our law has just been changed, you can't drive and text (unless the phone is in a caddy on the dash ) so i would have thought drive and camera isn't allowed.

On the other hand, we need both arms available for our high performance manual gearboxes

Texting while driving - my that's a safe practice I agree that it should be banned. I think all cell phones should be outlawed for drivers unless the car is off to the side of the road and not moving.

it's silly, texting on a phone in a holder while travelling 70mph, a-ok no problem. car at side of road, hazard lights on, handbrake on, car not in gear but engine running - instant fine and possible coviction of dangerous driving! (despite not actually going anywhere.... )

I don't think you drive and text, period. Don't you have have to have a voice activated phone and a headset to be able to use it all whilst driving ? I see more people everyday using mobile phones whilst driving, at least 3 or 4 a day on average.

What happens if you are involved in an accident whilst using your phone illegally ? Is it like drink driving, where you shoulder the blame regardless of the circumstances of the incident ?

    EDIT

Just found this from the Dept Of Transport

And pushing buttons on a phone while it is in a cradle or on the steering wheel or handlebars of a motorbike for example is not covered by the new offence, provided you don't hold the phone.
Seems as long as its in a cradle you can text away
