If you are saying that there is some overlay thatyou are using with our camera ("Happy Birthday" over the video and such), i'm not sure how to do this. I know that when I transfer to PC, the timestamp is removed (or not transferred?)

If that is the case, you may want to transfer it plain, but then use another program (Windows Movie Maker) to put the titles and such back. It will do a better job than the crappy, blocky text from DV cameras.

Can you post some frame grabs to show us ?

I find it difficult to believe you could be seeing a double-exposure effect on a DV tape. The data is stored digitally, so if you record over a used a tape, the new data writes over the old. If this was not happening, then data stream would be corrupt and unreadable.

If this is the case, then I would start be getting a new tape, recording on it, rewinding and recording again. If the problem does not happen, throw away the old tape and blame it. If it does happen again, get someone to look at your camera.

I'd still like to see some frames though.

yeah, i agree with the above poster. ive recoreded over video many times, and the only thing that goes wrong is every once in a while, the timecode gets messed up. which is normal when re-recording over footage. what kind of tape are you using?

its either the tapes you are using, or your recording heads. try using a cleaning cassette recommended by your manufacturer to clean the heads. or try a different brand of tapes
