  1. I've authored a DVD with 3 tracks, all using the same movie fragment but :
    track 1=LPCM audio
    track 2=AC-3 audio
    track 3=mpeg audio

I've used DVD2AVI to get video and audio, then tmpgenc to make the new video and multiplexed stream for nr 3. Then tmpgenc DVD author to author the disc.

The problem is that all 3 tracks play fine on a PC (SW) DVD player,
On the standalone player (Sony DVP-305NS), all is fine except track 3 has no audio.

I made sure sampling rate is 48 KHz

what could be the reason ??

1: Sony DVP-305NS does not support mpeg 1 layer II audio ??? (it is a regio 2 player..)
2: I should not let tmpgenc do the audio/video multiplex.. I should do this in DVD author ??
    3: other..
4 : do not bother, just use the AC-3 audio, which is less work and more bang for the bits...

Thanks for any helpful hints !

The problem could be your "#1".

Maybe MPEG1, LAYER II audio is not supported by your player. Your best bet would be to re-encode the third track to .AC3. AC3 is compatible everywhere.

  3. thanks for your opinion.

note : the Sony DVP-305NS plays VCD ok. I thought VCD audio is the same mpeg 1 layer II ??
It is in fact because I am happy with the VCD audio quality, that I want to author the DVDs with this kind of audio..

    Bye
