  1. ok, now a new problem, none of the editors/encoders/etc can read my dv files.. I have been able to convert 2 different 2 hour+ recordings (see previous post), went out of town for 2 weeks, want to convert my tapes, have the 30gig file and every package that I tried before that worked, won't read the file... tmpgenc states file not supported..

I didn't change anything before or after I went out of town, and I'm pretty sure I didn't make changes while I was out of town!!

    anyone have any ideas

one thing I noticed, the avi file is jumpy, but I don't recall if it was jumpy before and the final product was fine..

Have you reloaded your DV codecs to see if that helps?

  3. Did you (accidentally, perhaps) change the setting in dvio to Type 1 AVI?

Further, read the following (from a guide here on this board):

    Some common TMPGEnc problems:

If you get an error message when opening like file unsupported or can not open or is not supported or you get an empty(black) video preview window or the video look wierd in the video preview window like green or purple or pink
Try first to change the directshow codec reader priority settings in TMPGEnc under Option->Environmental settings->VFAPI plug-in and right click on the DirectShow Multimedia File Reader and increase the priority to 2 or to the top of the plugin-list and try reopen the video.
If that does not help be sure that you have installed DivX or XviD or MPG2 or DV Codecs, read here how to identify what codecs you need.
