  1. Hi, just tried DvdStyler for the first time. Looks like the beginnings of a very cool program. Only problem, I couldn't get 'Burn Dvd' to work.

    OS - Win98

    The steps were:

Built project / File / Burn Dvd / Accept defaults / Start --> got error during 'Generate Dvd'

    Details are:

    10:05:23: Execution of command 'C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND.COM /c "jpeg2yuv -n 1 -I t -L 1 -f 25 -j "C:\Program Files\DVDStyler\bin\dvd\menu1.mpg_background.jpg" | mpeg2enc -f 8 -o "C:\Program Files\DVDStyler\bin\dvd\menu1.mpg_background.m2v" "' failed (error 31: a device attached to the system is not functioning.)

    10:05:23: Error executing of command: "jpeg2yuv -n 1 -I t -L 1 -f 25 -j "C:\Program Files\DVDStyler\bin\dvd\menu1.mpg_background.jpg" | mpeg2enc -f 8 -o "C:\Program Files\DVDStyler\bin\dvd\menu1.mpg_background.m2v" "

10:05:23: Error converting jpeg to mpg...

I suspect one of the support programs is not properly installed or configured, but not sure of what to look for. Any help would be appriciated.

PS - The instructions on the homepage a fairly weak. I'll be happy to write a basic guide if I can get it to work.

  2. I had exactly the same error under Win98. Has anyone seen this problem and solved it yet?

The instructions on this site (which is currently down at the moment) say that it works, but I think that's under XP, not Win98.

I orignally thought it was just a problem with the command line exceeding the 128-character limit, but using a batch file and the SUBST command to shorten the paths, I got the command line down to 115 characters and it still didn't work.

I've put several other commands in that field (cd, dir, etc.) and nothing works there.

    Any help?

    Thanks.

  3. Hi snewpy, since my last post on this subject I've worked with the program author to resolve the Win98 issue. He's made a couple of attempts to fix it, but none have worked-out yet on my Win98 system.

I've since tried it on Win2000 with great success (WinXp is also reported to work well). He's added several new features over the last few months, and I had an opportunity to write an operators manual for the program. It's located at his home page:

    http://dvdstyler.sourceforge.net/docs.html

The issue with Win98 is documented at the end of the manual. I don't know if will get resolved any time soon, but keep an eye out for it. It's a pretty nice program.

On the other hand, Win98 is getting a bit long-in-the-tooth. Maybe it's time to upgrade.
