  1. After looking through the tools section and trying a few packages that are listed as producing DTS audio output, I find that they dont.... I'm looking for a package that will accept the output from Surcode (standalone) either .DTS or DTS .WAV files. Ineed a package that isn't too mind boggling, (unlike Scenarist OMG!)...

  2. You don't actually state what programs you have tried.

apparentlyDVDLab Pro will support DTS, but I cannot confirm the status of DTS implementation on the program at this time. It is also not ideal for commercial work at the present time, since it's multiplexed output does not currently verify 100% error-free. That is not to say I dislike the program - far from it, in fact - I eagerly await the day they overcome these verification issues. DVDLab Pro has the potential to bring spec-level authoring to all DVD authors on the Windows platform, irrespective of the depth of their pockets, and is to be commended for doing so.

What I CAN confirm, though, is that Spruce DVD Maestro and Apple DVD Studio Pro 3 (essentially the same core codeset, albeit ported to the MAC platform) both support DTS. Note that only the recent Version (3) of DVD SP will support DTS, though.

Also be aware that there are currently a few minor incompatibilities with certain DTS files (such as some produced by older versions of Minnetonka Surcode) and DVD SP 3. Also look here , for general discussion by Alex Alexzander on DVD SP 3 and DTS.

I do not know what level of authoring skill you possess, but if you are authoring with DTS, then I would expect you to take your work quite seriously. That being the case, you will find that investing in a MAC and DVD SP 3 will be a very cost-effective and worthwhile investment (I use DVD SP 3 myself). DVD SP 3 is a remarkably powerful authoring package and offers an unbelievable (and currently unsurpassed) amount for the price. It is an abstraction layer authoring system, which should suit your stated aims of authoring DVDs with an intuitive program. However, should your authoring demands increase in the future, you will find that another program is also available, which can add spec-level authoring functionality as a compliment to the abstraction layers capabilities.

    Hope this helps.

    Arky ;o)
