  1. Hello I've been encoding some avi with canopus and TEMPGEnc, the results are ok with canopus(audio sync probs with TEMPGEnc) The film I'm encoding is live on stage and has a lot of black background. the rest of the picture looks ok but when theres a black background it seems to be made up of blocks of different shades of black that shimmer, I've 2 pass vbr'd this and set to high quality but its still there so what other filters would help here?

    Also what does the video community think is the best way of trying the encoded film to see what it would look like on dvd before burning?

    Macroblocks are typically due to having a bitrate that is too low or from increasing the resolution when converting. What are your input/output resolutions and what's your bitrate settings?

  3. I've had problems with burning to my rw disc, its comes out crap on there but ok on a dvd-r I think its due to how the disc is formatted would that be right?
