Any authoring software is fine. I use NTI to create all my SVCDs and VCDs but I know that for XVCD or XSVCD, it might be best to author with Nero rather than NTI.

Can do with VCD Easy too.Originally Posted by sitlet

The difference between SVCD and CVD (CVCD) is very small, at low bitrates CVD can give less visible macroblocks, and low bitrate is always a problem for SVCD/CVD. Another good thing about CVD is that it uses a DVD compliant resolution, You'll be happy you used CVD instead of SVCD the day you want to move them to DVD, coz many players got problems with SVCD resolution.

Are you saying that if use a low bitrate for SVCD, there will be a high likelihood of macroblocking? If that's true, what would be considered low? 1150 and under? 1500 and under?Originally Posted by thor300

Depends on the movie, fast scene changes and action require higher bitrate. Always encode CVD/SVCD at VBR.
