Reason #812 why every time I see people saying that XVid is "better" than DIVX, I laugh and point.

It may very well simply be that the video you're trying to convert, and your particular XVid codec... don't get along all that well.

  4. There is nothing wrong with Xvid codeks, at least i never had problems, even if Xvid has been the codek of choice for my avi files for a long time now. Please note that post concerning Xvid problems are when using tmpgenc, the holy cow some people are afraid to say anything bad about. gurm, you better look elsewhere before blaming xvid, or explain why xvid is more trouble for you than for most others.

  5. I agree with thor300, anytime someone instantly jumps on a program or codec (Xvid in this instance) infering that it is a piece of crap, when many people use it happily, just says something about the capability of that person.

@TheRealDeal blury with straight lines where there is motion... sure sounds like deinterlace gone bad to me. Can you say for sure that it is not a deinterlacing problem? Also, is this an Xvid you created (if so what settings did you use) or one that you DLed from who knows where?
