  1. Hello all,

    Router questions here ...

I presently have dsl service over a pppoe connection with a Gnet IP0006 router setup on said pppoe connection.

I will be switching over to a cable connection very shortly.

My question is, what changes do I need to make to the router? Obviously I have to take out the pppoe settings. I will assume I just use the "reset" button on the bottom, but i am unsure.

So, is that how I take out the pppoe settings? And what changes to I have or should add for the addition of cable?

    Thank you in advance.

    LG

You shouldn't need to do anything to the router.

    Actually he will.

At the very least you will have to change the logon settings the router uses to connect to the internet. I assume with the DSL -> Cable switch you are switching ISPs as well.

Other than that, I doub't anything needs to be changed.

Most DSL setups use that PPPoE garbage. Most cable modem setups use standard DHCP. The little home firewall/router boxes I've used were configured through a web browser and you just selected a radio button for the setting to use.

  5. Proably just have to change the WAN options to Dynamic IP instead of PPPoE. Most routers have auto-setup feature in the router config. in browser.
