  1. i am fairly new to this and i am at a crossroad which i hope i can get some help with. i have a dell pc and i am using window xp home edition i am using sonic 5.0, i have some home movies that i made into mpegs. when i try to burn them everything goes smoothly but when it gets to the last part it tells me "the last part cannot be finished because dvd err dvd err, 1" when i play the mpegs they play fine. so can someone tell me how to fix this problem.....are mpegs the only thing you can burn,or can you even burn avi and quicktime.

did you use dvd authoring software on your files before burning? you can pretty much turn anything into a dvd by re-encoding it to dvd compliant mpeg 1 or mpeg 2 .

Not too familiar with Sonic 5.0, but if you are following the right steps of encoding, authoring, burning, it sounds like a DVD burning problem. Have you tried different DVD media? You might want to explain the steps you use. Are you playing the DVD's just in the computer or in a stand alone DVD player? You can burn AVI, Quicktime and other formats onto a DVD as a data file, but you will only be able to play most of them on a computer.

Please do some reading, all the steps for creating a DVD are a click away. Once you've done some reading and have some detailed questions, feel free to post.
