I have been using 12a version forever since posts have mentioned that it still had the best quality. Now that 2.01 version out should I change to that version? Is the quality good? Is it faster? reliable?
Thanks in advance for saving the grief of perhaps finding out headaches on my own.

Why not use both and see for yourself, which one is better.
It won't bite youThe fun of having a computer is going through all the grief and headaches of trying new software.
Besides there's no greater opinion than your own.

i would really like to know how it can have better quality?
To do a full blown test, take a fast motion clip(small one so you can encode it faster) and run it thru 12a and ANY other version with SAME settings. Play back on computer FULL SCREEN and tell us what u got.
Oh and make sure its XVCD cuz vcd wouldnt really matter.
Oh and also, it this "psychological quality difference" effect XSVCDS? -
2,1 seems to be better with CBR
For 2pass vbr and CQ_vbr, 12H is much better than 12a.
Version 12a does not have good vbr fuction. 12 has the best vbr results, but the colours and the sharpness is way lower than 12H
This is my opinion. Other members of the forum may have other opinion...
