  1. I've found two guides for splitting one DVD to 2 DVDR. The first using IfoEdit and the second using DVDFab, but I was wondering if there were other programs available?

For instance, I'm fairly certain the answer to this question is "no," but does DVDShrink split?

For those who split their factory DVDs, do you have a preffered method?

    Thanks

Use DVD SHRINK version 3.05 BETA
Here's the download for it: http://mrbass.org/dvdshrink/dvdshrinkold/
Here's the guide for splitting into 2 discs: http://www.dvdshrink.info/splitting-v2-3.php
although the guide says it is for DVD SHRINK version 2.3, you can still use it for version 3.05 BETA. It's the same just the interface of both versions are different.

  5. I use DVDFab (the earlier freeware version) when I need to split a DVD9 into 2 DVD-R's. Works well and is very easy. I almost always save the movie only when I backup DVD's (unless the whole thing will fit with very little or no compression on to a single DVD-R, but that is rare).

  6. Culley,

Elby CloneDVD version 2 (or above) can do let you split to 2 DVD-R also, by let you choose what chapter to keep. For example, if the movie has 24 chapters, you might want:

    1. Keep Chapter 1-16 for first DVD-R with no extra stuff
    2. Keep Chapter 17-24 for 2nd DVD-R + extra stuff.
    or:
    1. Keep Chapter 1-12 for first DVD-R + some extra stuff
    2. Keep Chapter 13-24 for 2nd DVD-R + some extra stuff.

I does let you pick & choose which to keep & drop.

    Cheers,

  8. Yep.

That looks to be fairly straight forward!

It doesn't say anything about copying menus, but I was pretty much just looking for the main movie and a few extras.

Thanks again for all of the suggestions
