I liked LEXX , probably had more to do with Zev than the quality of the show.

  4. The Babylon5 tv movies, i lost count how many times i seen B5. And yeah, season4 is best. And i still want to see the missing crusade eps! Crusade was a big improvment after B5 season5, sad we will never see the end of it.
The worst scifi movie series MUST be Taken, i will never understand what weird feelings Spielberg got for dolphins, but im sure its not healthy.

  5. voted for the matrix. Liked part 1 and most of 2. 3 just got too weird.

I am a little sad that Highlander isnt in the list. A truly great film. Unfortunately it was killed, IMO, with part 2 and 3. I liked part 4 and hear that they are looking at part 5

  7. Not a big Sci-Fi fan here :P

If I had to go with a series of Sci-Fi flicks, I'd pick the sex parodies -

    Barbarella
    Flesh Gordon
    Galaxina
    Cherry 2000

I voted for Planet Of The Apes for the first 3 movies...after the 3rd it starts drifting into another story and starts getting really boring by that point...and I lose interest.

Can't take any othe others...but at least TGPO's Kung Fu series are short 8)

  12. Best TV series - Firefly.

Now, if that ever makes it to a movie....
rfielder, I'm thinking you already know this....but the Firefly movie (Serenity) is slated for release on April 22, 2005. They began filming this week, I believe. If the first movie does well, there are plans for a trilogy. Maybe then we can add it to the list.

Oh, yeah. I vote for the first three Star Wars films. So far, I have been able to block the prequel films from my memory.

    Regards,
    DW

Out of this list, Back to the Future, because I can relate to it.
Star Wars always too far out there for me.
Recent Star Trek movies really sucked. The tv shows were better.
The middle-age Star Treks were pretty good, but still not quite the series.
Matrix fell apart after a short time. Had promise. But failed.
Alien, sure, okay, not a favorite, not interested in monsters.
To me, scifi needs tech (science!). Planet of the Apes was just adventure.
Godzilla, same thing, just a monster. No real tech. Just fiction.

Stargate SG1 is the best SciFi concept I've ever seen (the movie was decent too, but not as good as series). It uses stories over effects too, which is far better. And when it had effects, they were nice, sometimes quite impressive. It's created a following that can probably rival Star Trek in time, and is actually a successful series (rating, etc), unlike other cult sci-fi shows. Like the creators said, it brings the sci-fi to us, in our time, not to somebody in a far off place in a far off time. This is why it works so well. I agree.

Actually, the "Stargate" stories/concepts are older. But yeah, SLIDERS is another good one, though not the same. That's more of an adventure too, only one piece of SciFi is really involved. I can relate to it also, got most of the series transferred from old tapes to DVD.

oh come on, it's a complete ripoff!

Every week they go through a blue swirly thing. there's a geeky professor, a charming hero, a token black man and a pointless woman. every week something happens, someone gets captured, the rest rescue them and they escape just in time. you can't even tell which series i'm talking about, can you?!

  19. I find it hard to classify BTTF as SciFi, its a typical teenager movie. But entertaining and good teenager movies for sure, i like them all.

I like the new duck dodgers series, as most non Americans. It has a European flavor, maybe that's why this series ain't that popular in USA.
Same way I liked Looney Toons Back in Action and the new Looney Toons Theatrical shorts.
Other examples for different taste: Disney's "Three Cabaleros" starring Donald Duck, is a European favorite, while in USA it is concerned an inferior Disney movie. At the same time, we don't like anything 2D cartoon disney did the last 15 years, but for most of the Americans this is a new gold period in Disney animation.
    Different taste, absolutelly!

Another excellent Sci Fi movie series: Pokemon
(I have to support my family, don't blame me....)
