  1. Everytime I try to encode a movie using TMPGEnc, and then play the .mpg file back using Windows Media Player, it has compressed the widescreen movie into a full-screen one. It doesn't chop off the edges, it just crams everything into 4:3.

    I always select "Full Screen (keep aspect ratio)", but it is like the program ignores it.

    Is there something I could be leaving out? I have encoded 3 or 4 movies in the past using this same technique and they turned out fine.

  2. DVD2AVI throws away the info for aspect ratio. (I noticed your other post)

    You have to let TMPGEnc know how it should view the source material.

  4. 16:9 isn't an automatic answer, but if you look on the back of the DVD case it usually say what aspect ratio a movie is.

    16:9, and 4:3 most common.
