  1. Hi im looking for something to record tv shows and video tapes onto my comp so i can make those into vcds.
    i have a terrible comp so can someone please tell me what i should get. here are my comp specifcations
    450 mghz and 60 megs ram ill prolly upgrade on ram sometime but right now i like my comp.

    Where to start.... at that memory level I guess your running 95.

    To do the job properly your CPU is okay to marginal mem should be 128 min desirable over 256k.

    You'll need a minimum of 20 gig HD pref ata100 fast.

    You can capture by an internal device either a pci card or even agp vid card with capture device or external USB device, I think most here would recommend internal device.

    If you after TV shows then obviously the vid card should have a tuner although you could capture from external tuner.

    The software to capture, manipulate and process for the most part can be found on this most excellent site.

    I really think until you get your harware spec right you will be disapointed with your efforts.
