These new ones really sucked on Win32, but all the WinNT systems seem to take it pretty well.

  2. I also did a fresh install last week after doing a major system upgrade. I don't do much capturing, however...

  3. Don't get comfy, they'll have another one next month. That's why I've given up on ATI AIW products (I am still using my Radeon AIW, but only as a video card, which is great, by the way). I purchased another capture device (one that works flawlessly and has not had an upgrade since it came out two years ago). I don't know why ATI can't get it right the first time.

When I was using the AIW, trying to upgrade was always a disaster. I would lose the TV or the DVD player everytime. After spending hours trying to figure what was wrong, I always had to go back to the original install disk.... Oops! maybe they did get it right the first time. Sorry.

Maybe I'll try Lord Smurfs method and fresh install the "most current" versions after my next format and see what happens. Maybe, by then 'all' the bugs will be out or ATI will have moved on to the next series.
If it works, don't fix it.

  4. Well I guess thats where many of us differ. I like ATI's on the edge trying something new, and being on the seat of your pants thrill. Fact is, with the recent release of MMC, I use the EZlook, and EZshare items all the time. I have not had any capture problems using it as a pvr. No sync or dropped frames. I install the newest driver right over the old ones and have not had any problems. So I can't really complain except I hate that the media library does not search automatically and you can't list mp3 files in the ezlook library yet. Other than that its ok.

  5. I've been using AIW cards for years without any major problems, but, as always, one must remember individual results may vary....

I'd rather deal with companies that always try to make it better (ATI, Ahead/Nero) instead of ones that are sitting on their duff and stupidly insist "we did it perfect the first time, no need to update, ever".

    Cause they don't know :P :P
Very well said, if it were for an update ocasionally, it'd be OK, but a monthly update is totally senseless

The good point is that they use to ship third-part decent software bundled in with their cards (Pinnacle Studio, Ulead VS), so users can skip shit MMC. I tried more than 10 versions and it never worked - I have fullfilled all ATI's "System Requirements" by the way....

I quit upgrading Catalyst ages ago, I have an old version that seems to work nice with the third-part software mentioned above, so no updates. The far I can keep from ATI, the best :P
