problems burning dvd+r

I own a Lg 4040B burner. Whenever i burn a dvd i go into msconfig and shut down everything before burning. This works fine with the DVD-R's but when i do this and try to burn a dvd+r, it won't recognize it as a blank dvd. I have also tried this leaving everything running in the background. Any ideas on what to try next? i'm currently using the firmware A303.

Why do you do this? Do you have problems otherwise? If so, check to see if the burner is in DMA mode.

As for your +R problem, the burner may not be recognizing that particular brand of media. Try another.
