Sizing s/vcd on Mac vs. PCs TMPGenc

When making S/VCD on the Mac using tools like iVCD, FFMPEGX, MPEG2Works, etc., I find that if a file is, say, 350mb and then making SVCD (@2500 kb), the resulting file comes out as, say, 492mb. The video works but the encode isn't necessarily the best possible.

But I'm disheartened that I can get a better SVCD using TMPGenc's method where I can grade the encode to be for a certain disk size (ie., 74 mins/80 mins) and it will generate for me, from the same 350mb file, a SVCD that's 727mb, and better looking than what the Mac apps can give me.

Question: How can I get a better encoding like this on the Mac?

Granted that with FFMPEGX you can get better control over the bit rate, but it's not as specifically set as in the way that TMPGenc is. Thanks in advance.

i agree on this though i have never used tmpegenc but i've seen the results. my preffered encoding method, when it comes to (x)(s)vcd like encodings, is ffmpegx's ffmpeg engine even if it is more work than using mpeg2enc engine. ffmpeg works best for me when demuxing and re-muxing and burning as xsvcd.
