My girlfriend is 4 weeks pregnant. Been in denial for a couple weeks, but I guess it is time to share. Any ideas on names?

    Hey Tiny, read my post!

Tiny maybe be being kind of an ******* but Bastard is actually a good name. Little Bastard will be the coolest kid in school. I wish my name was Bastard. It sounds so bad-ass. Like Bastard Jones or something.

Are you going to find out boy or girl before hand?

If you think the child is going to have some issues then some suggestions:

    Will Hay
    Khan
    Rip
    Cap
    Northcat

If you thing the child is going to be fairly normal...at least as normal as what YOUR offspring could be :P

    Boys:
    Gabe
    John
    Joshua
    Devin

    Girls:
    Cameron
    Lindsey
    Tiffany
    Shelby

By the way, the girls names are names of past girlfriends and they were all hot. Tiffany was the hottest and was my favorite girlfriend...but I screwed that up by cheating on her with Lindsey and getting caught that was stupid...lesson learned.

A couple of tips for you:
1 - don't have a "special" spelling of her name. I have 4 Brittany's in class and 4 different spellings. Brittany, Britney, Britanie, Britannie it gets confusing.
2 - don't give a double name if your last name could also be a first name. I know a guy named Steve Stephens
3 - don't give them product names. For example if you last name is something like "Moss" then don't name them Pete. If your name is "Cupp" then don't name them Reese or Dixie.
4 - pray for a boy. Girls are much harder to raise, and anyone who tells you different is full of shit. Boys are alot like having dogs. They get up, they eat, they go out and play and they come back in when they get hungry. Girls require major amounts of attention, clothes have to match...just imagine 2 of your girlfriend and them arguing with eachother every morning about wearing eachothers clothes, makeup, shoes, etc. Boys don't even notice what they are wearing let alone what you or their friends are wearing.

Then I must be full of shit! I wouldn't trade my little girl for anything in the world! Thank the stars she looks like her mother though. Now in another ten years or so, I may have to post back and say "Excuse me Mr. Northcat, you were right. I was sooo wrong!" But for now, anyone who says boys are better is full of shit.

Look at the bright side. With girls, you never have to worry about penis envy

OH I never said I would TRADE my daughter. Little girls are great, and they are cute, and absolutely "Daddy's little girl"...and I'm sure you all have the same problem raising a little girl that I did...difficult to say "No". Daughters are great but they are more difficult and more expensive to raise.

And although we have never seen you or your wife...we are also thankful she looks like your wife

    Example:
My daughter is 13, my son is 17. My daughter will tear her room apart going through outfit after outfit until she finds the right combination, she lays her school clothes out by week rather than day (and hell you know of course you can't wear the same outfit in 2 successive weeks ), which usually involves one of my wife's shirts or shoes. My daughter will come down stairs in the morning, wife will see her and say something like "is that my shirt?" my daughter will say "you wear my clothes"....and then it begins
My son doesn't know where any of his clothes are except socks, underwear, T-shirts and shorts. He literally picks his clothes out in the dark...just grabs one of each. He comes down stairs and maybe he's wearing one of my shirts because our laundry happened to get mixed and I'll say "isn't that my shirt?" and he will say "I don't know, but thanks." and that's it.
Breakfast daughter very picky, son could careless he eats anything. Son's stories are who, what, when, where. Daughter's stories are who was there, whether she likes them or not and why, what they were doing and who was doing what and who laughed and at what and why they laughed, how they were feeling, why they were feeling that way, when they were doing it, plus what they did before it and after it, where they were doing it and who else was around and how they were feeling.

Tekki - I don't know how old your daughter is but just wait. I laugh every morning at my wife and daughter. They do it every morning. They bicker over the curling iron, hair dryer...etc...it's a list. I would think that my wife...being the adult ...would just get up 10 minutes earlier and that would end their AM bathroom issue but I don't see that happening anytime soon. Sometimes it gets on my nerves and I have to come out with the "look you 2, if you can't get along....."

Remember the things you tried to get your girlfriends to do? your wife? Your daughter will be there too...eventually You don't want to think about it but guess what...circle of life.

Kids are great no matter which sex they are, but there are differences...differences you never imagined and if it's a boy your girlfriend will have some misunderstandings unless she has brothers.

so northcat, you just completed a big video job and got $500. your wedding anniversary and your daughters birthday are coming up. they both ask for a piece of jewellery (because women have no imagination) each costing $500. who gets their dream gift and who gets to take a hike?

i'm just trying to scertain who costs more - a wife or a daughter.

Well there a few possible outcomes.

#1 - buy on piece of jewelry and they can share it...they do anyway
#2 - buy wife the jewelry...she gives ...different pleasures in return.
#3 - and most likely...take them both out to eat $60, by them each different outfits $120, and tanning visits $60. Keep the remaining $240! They are both going to share the outfits and they can go together to the tanning visits (which is 30 days worth).

I hope I fulfilled the spirt of your exercise. Kind of odd how you picked anniversary and daughter's birthday...they are both in the month of August

I have already spent a small fortune on my wife's jewelry...I dropped $1200 on her this year at christmas. Necklace, ring and bracelet...and no they didn't come in a set, that's would have made it a lame gift

    Editing ey? - Pac

hahaha, you'll be testing my hypothetical situation in the near future then!

I think i can conclude from your answer that a wife is more expensive because of the sex tax?

  18. $500
    - 60 (Dinner)
    - 120 (Clothes
    - 60 (Tanning)
    = $260 not $340

You aren't a maths teacher Northcat? Or am I missing something with my figures?

yea, sorry about that, I meant to say keep the extra $260...

for some reason I was thinking $600 and I'm grading exams as I monitor the OT forum...so my ariffmatik was a little absent minded and quick...good thing after tomorrow I don't have to back to "work" until August 24th

Yes, I remember, but I will do what my wife's dad did to me. Every time a boy comes to pick her up will be time to clean the extensive gun collection!

Boys calling my house are one of my favorite sources of entertainment. I am a football coach at the High School and they all know who I am. They call and ask to talk to my daughter and I say "who is this?".... mark ...."what do you want?"... to talk to Chelsea... "what do you want to talk to her about?"...just wanted to talk to her for a while.... "didn't you see her at school?"...yes... "why didn't you talk to her then?"...I dunno..."alright, I'll get her but don't be on this phone all night"....

None of them have came over to the house yet...I think you are right with the gun collection idea...maybe a Bad Boys II scene when Reggie comes to pick up his daughter
