  1. Folks,
    i have apex dvd recorder 9000 power supply card is burned ( i can see burned diodes and few other components ) apex is giving hard time to sell the power supply card.
    card model number is DVDR-MKD1030511
    Now here is the question...which other model carry same power supply card??
    so i can buy that model and remove the card and reuse it.
    as some one told me cyber home 1500 is excetly same model as apex but i am in canada and none of the model are sold here.
    so before i buy cyber home i want to make sure that it has same power supply card.
    can some one please help me who has cyber home 1500 model to verify card then i will invest money.

    They are different.

    Find somebody skilled in electronics, have him/her make you a supply. If you do, let them know there's a market for it. One of my friends is looking into this himself, though I'm not sure how far he'll get.

    I think the other alternative is to sell your dead Apex on e-bay for $50-100 and use the money to buy a JVC or even a LiteOn 5001(called Daytek p-30 at Future Shop in Canada, it got a fan). All 3 recorder use same LSI Logic chip.

    Most of the recorder use standard DVD writer mechanism. If you take a look, yellow wire is for 12V, red wire for 5V and black for ground. It should not be too hard to modify a power supply for one recorder (or even a small PC power supply card) to another if physical size and shape is similar and power rating is good enough.

    The power supply can be repaired and upgraded for $35.00 then the units are rock solid. I have two of them that work great after being repaired and having the firmware flashed to the latest version and a second fan installed inside to prevent overheating.
