  1. Hi guys, I've tried every converting guide using this program, and I do step by step and once it gets to the screen with the estimated size, bitrate, and all that stuff...i cant edit those...on all the guides it shows them making high bit rate movies at low size (starting with a 700mb movie), under 4.4gig...everytime i try to do the bitrate they recommend, I get like 6-8 gig sized conversions. and if I don't mess with the bitrate, it's still bigger than what a DVD can hold.

    can someone please help me?

    thanks a bunch!

  2. length of movie x bitrate = size of mpg

what is the total length of the movie?
what's the bitrate that you are using?

Your AVI probably has VBR MP3 audio.

Try opening the AVI in GOLDWAVE then save the audio as a 16-bit 48k Stereo PCM WAV file.

Now in TMPGEnc load the AVI as your video source but use the PCM WAV file as your audio source.

This should work assuming the problem is your audio in the AVI file. I can't say for sure without knowing more details BUT based on the problem you are having ... well that is what it sounds like the probelm is.
