I was in the more touristy parts of the City (Magic Mile I think it was called) so they may have lost their accents from dealing with tourists all day.

2) It's not pronounced "chi -cah-guh". Hollywood always gets it wrong. It's pronounced "shi-caw-goe". Very important if you want to sound like a local
3) And this has nothing to do with talking, but "The Windy City" nickname has nothing to do with the wind. It was given that name at the beginning of the 20th century because the Chicago delegation to some national political meeting were a bunch of windbags. They got the handle of being "full of hot wind", and the city had its nickname ever since
4) Even though technically Los Angeles passed Chicago in population in 1980 as the country's second-biggest city, Chicago will always be the "second city". The Chicago comedy outfit with the same name spawned most of the early Saturday Night Live regulars.
5) A "stoop" is the three or four steps leading down from your front door to the sidewalk. You use the term anywhere else in the country and they look at you like you have a booger on your forehead. -
I did travel out into the suburbs of Chicago one of the days we were out there with some locals and noticed their accent but they were Italian-American so I thought that accent you described was from that, not Chicago.
Once you get out of the touristy parts of the city their are some very friendly people. Even in the city you'll meet plenty of nice people. Definitely would go back there, same with the rest of America. -
I really considered posting a vid of my drive to work, but as I looked at it this morning, there was nothing to see! Very tall pines and cedars everywhere. Nothing to see but trees. I live in a small town (pop. < 100,000) in the woods in northern Cal. in the foothills of the Sierra mountains. Boring! Sorry....
-
More boring than mine? I think not...
C'mon, let's see it!

I'm afraid my ability to host is fast expiring - I'm hosting northcat_8's next so I'll see how much there is left. I've asked computing services for a larger chunk of space, and they've doubled it for me already. I'd best not ask again!
Anyway, I'll wait and see what I can do for you.

Cap, you sound exactly like the guy we have here on radio, doing the morning traffic reports. A very "transmissionable" voice. You could do voiceover commercials easily.
Although I haven't got any video ATM, here's a few shots of the "Canadian desert" I live in.
And of course the most popular website in the valley: http://www.chbc.com/feature/bridgecam/Cheers, Jim

Why don't you guys put them up as mpegs? I can't open the AVI's and I'm at work so I dont want to install codecs either
"Terminated!" :firing: -
AVIs give higher compression, and personally I find them easier to work with.
Why can't you install the DivX Lite codec? Are the PCs restricted?
Cobra -
Yeah, they inventory them regularly and we aren't allowed to install anything

You want to see 60 minutes known as Indolikaa's drive to work?
Surely you jest. -

I can't hold any more. I wish I could because this is interesting...

My drive to work takes me through the Minnesota countryside. While not too exciting it is pretty scenic compared to my old commute down the highways in traffic in the Twin Cities. Probably the most exciting part is the car -

My commute is around an hour and 20mins, How can I compress that down to 10-12mb?
OK, I can take part of it and then soon as I hit the freeway, I can turn it off for 80miles, because it all looks the same -

I think mine will be sans audio as i sound like a woman - frequently have people say "how can i help you miss?" or calling work when i'm the only one there and saying "i was speaking a lady a moment ago..." -
Smart FTP is great. I don't have a link but you should be able to google it up
