Discribe has a kind of DVD info function... What info did you need?
I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté." -
The main problem is there is no true way to detect this info from the disc. This information is not stored on the disc in a way that is useful. What is stored on the disc is a code that most then be matched to a database of manufactures that is stored in Nero or other programs that support this.
Some Taiwan Disc makers actually steal other makers codes so the the media seems to be from some one reputable.
Here is info regarding this for CD.

Toast 6 = or is better than Nero in my opintion
DVD Identifier = What's the point really of getting those media codes other than for those perfectionists who like to see what media they really have. Ritek is Ritek to me, and as long as it burns i could care less if its 00540383 or 00540382 or howerver the codes are shown.
What a strange question to post in here -

Nope, none of that fancy stuff available... I guess we're a simple folk, with simple needs and desires...

From PCWORLD:
"If a disc isn't properly manufactured, the consequences can be dire. At best, the disc will fail immediately during the burn process; this is a best-case scenario because then you know from the start that the disc is faulty. At worst, you may get an abundance of errors during the burn process. These errors won't interrupt the burning process, and since write-once and rewritable DVD media have built-in error correction to compensate for scratches and other abnormalities on the disc (as do their CD cousins), any errors will be virtually invisible to you.
"You'll only know they're there if you use a disc diagnostics program, such as those offered by Ahead Software or Plextor. Nor will these errors affect the playback of the disc--initially."
