  1. I am trying to capture from a VHS video tape using Adaptec Video-Oh and Sonic My DVD and then converting the raw mpg to dvd using Tmpgenc. While the video was as good as I had hoped for, the audio is very low and I need to turn the volume ridiculously high to listen. I tried to turn the audio volume settings on TmpGenc higher but that resulted in a lot of static and distortion. Can anyone suggest a program or a way in which I can clean up the audio? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  2. Silly question here? Not really!

Have you checked your recording levels in Mixer or whatever it would be called for your setup? I had the same problem a few times. Most the time I find the wave or cd input levels are adjusted way low for volume recording. I think on my system I now have my audio for vhs captures connected to a CD input on the system board. So for me I would have to go into record levels and I set the volume for CD and the Main volume to about the middle.

I don't know what a "Adaptec Video-Oh " is, but I am geussing it has an audio line that connects to your computer some how, maybe line in?
You probably know, record levels are not the same as playback levels and normally there is a seperate screen for each to be set. Had a friend did not know that and was about to pull out his hair once trying to make an audio CD.

So if you haven't already maybe check the record levels. Also of course double check cables and such if that does not work. I think it was a loose ground once that cause me to have very low audio like that with a Stereo, Rca plug barely touching the jack.

You can solve this issue, by rising the volume of your input sound.
