Making .avi files from dvd's, and i'm having a problem with the Divx Pro codec syncing the audio to the video. The audio is a little behind the video?

    Much love!

Are there any guides on how to do this? I have tried adjusting the audio interleavingAudio skew correction, but do not notice any results at 1000ms positive correction. Do I need to re-parse the file?

Are your avi files out of sync before you convert them? Or is it bad after you convert to divx?

  6. for some strange reason there is only one guide (that i could find on here) and that is for gradual audio sync problems.
there seems to be none for constant audio sync probs.
there are several ways to fix it. the easiest in my opinion is using womble.
u will have to demultiplex. (separate audio and video)
once that is done u will have to multiplex (stick them back together)
when u multiplex there is an option for AV sync.
the best thing to do is cut a small test using womble again
maybe 20 secs when ppl are talking up close to camera or even better doors banging etc.
so with this small test mess about with av-sync till u get it correct.
then use the time for whole movie.
i encode movies first then if there is audio sync probs use womble.
hope this is of help but i've had very little sleep and a massive amount of beer in last 18 hours. infact i dont even know why i'm on here.
btw i think to use womble for mpeg2 u have to purchase it but i was given it by a rich uncle (inserts icon for bullshit)
just notice u are trying to make avi's from dvd's and not the other way, so disregard all of the above

i would try another tool to do dvd to avi, like autogk or fairuse 0.4 instead of trying to manually sync the audio.

    zak_swan: make a guide then.

  8. Baldrick i can't even be arsed finding out how to put little picture beside my name never mind writing a guide i'm too busy listening to jimi hendrix smoking dope and drinking rolling rock.
however i think it is an issue which should be addressed.

The vob file looks fine, I can open it directly to play with a player I have, but when I open it for editting in Virtuadub, not only is it darker, but the audio is actually in advance of the video. I have had some success using the video filters, and the Interleaving/Audio Skew Correction option, but this is not always a problem.
