Okay lets see, I just got my burner the other day and it came with Ulead Movie Factory 3. Now when I try to burn anything to my DVD-RW all the sudden my CPU usage shoots up to 100% and it takes about 2 hours just to convert the video title..once it gets past this part it burns fast..Is it supposed to take this long to convert the video title?

You need to give us more information about your system. What type of CPU (P4, AMD, etc.) are you using and what is it's speed? How much system memory do you have? How much available hard disc space do you have? What type of video file are you using to create your DVD (mpeg1, mpeg2, AVI, DV, etc.)? The characteristics of your video file (Resolution, Video Bitrate, Audio Bitrate, Audio Sample Rate, etc.)?

my system specs are.. P4 2GHz, 768 MB of RAM. I have plenty of space on my hard disk..The file types were .ogm but i converted them to .avi with Virtualdubmod then I converted them to mpeg1 with TMPGEnc..I have this problem with any files..even oens that I didnt convert and were already mpeg1 files.

when i use this 2 author my files i always convert the video to mpeg-2 using tmpenc before hand, because there's more options and ulead does seem to take ages. if u import an mpeg-2 into ulead, it authors it and burns it much quicker, but it still shouldnt be taking 2 hours with an avi file to get to 13% with those system specs. im using an xp2000+ with 768mb of ram as well and with an mpeg2 file i can author it in under an hour, although i dont burn with ulead. u could try just outputting the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders and then burning them sperately using something like nero? its a bit fiddly but it mite speed it up slightly
. also try closing all programs and just leave the computer to do wot it has to instead of using it as it is authoring, it'll be quicker that way.
