  1. Hi,

Since i've got my dvd burner, i like to make my videoss on dvd instead of svcd.

I capture some music videos and/or old video tapes at a resolution of 480 * 576 (I can't capture at higher resolution because the cpu isn't powerful enough and 352*576 is not good enough).

So I will resize my captures to 720 * 576 but i don't know with resize algorithtm is the best (bilinear, bicubic, lanczos).

Maybe a dvd authoring program will accept 480*576 (svcd) but it's not compliant so problems are expected with a standalone dvd player.

I'd like to resize and perform all video processing with avisynth (it's much faster than the resize / noise embedded in tmpgenc).

So what's the best resize method (bilinear, bicubic, lanczos) ???

  2. I'm no expert but, i think its a matter of wether you want to enlarge or reduce the video size, I think enlarging from 480 to 720 horizontally, you may want to try Bilinear

  3. I use Bicubic with 0,0.6. Have tried lanczos but didnt notice any difference. Read somewhere that lanczos can give sharper picture when upsizing, so maybe thats the best in your case.

I see you have a winTV go card. That card is based to bt8xx.

So, I suggest you to download and install the latest btwincap drivers. Then read this https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=199669&highlight=

In short terms, you don't need to capture to 480 x 576. You can capture lower (368 x 576), then resize using lanzcos to 344 x 576 and pan to 352 x 576. That way, you gonna have a better picture than caping at 480 x 576, for the reasons anaylised on that post.

Direct capture at 352 x 576 is bad for bt8xx cards. Blury. There is a way to determine the sharpness of your card, but this works only on certain bt8xx variations (and not winTVgo)
