hi all, ive got a movie i downloaded which was an .ogg movie. ive got the correct codecs installed which allow tmpgenc to recognise my video. however, when i try and encode the video the subs dont show up in the mpeg2 file. ive searched this site, but all the topics or guides describe how to add subs to various video formats, all i want to know is how to encode with permanent subs? i'm thinking it might be something to do with Vobsub? the movie came with the subs, there's no extra .sub or .srt file containing the subs btw.

any help/suggestions/comments would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

ogg can have the subs as a selectable stream. The fact that you didn't get any subs when encoding proves this is so in this case. So you have to demux the subs, possibly convert them to some recognized format (or find them elsewhere in some format that you can add) and add them with VirtualDub

I think there's some version of VirtualDub that handles more than one video and one audio stream. Look under the Tools section...

here's a guide that shows you have to convert ogm to dvd, including how to add permanent subs.

  7. If you can switch subtitles on/off they are not permanent. If you cannot switch them off, then you cannot demux them.
