Samsung DVD-HD841 720p/768p/1080i with DVI out $189

Saw this new DVD player yesterday at Best Buy... no price on it there. Samsung's second generation DVD player wth HD upscale to 720p/768p/1080i and has a DVI output, too. $189 here:

I have a DVI enabled Bravo D1 into my Samsung 46" DLP and love it.

I bought this yesterday, and it is awesome! It is hooked up to my Sony 34" widescreen TV through the DVI ( of couse). I tested Gladiator and Star Trek first contact, and both looked awesome! They looked the best on the 1080i setting, not the 720p setting which I thought might look better before buying this unit, having read alot of Samsung HD-931 reviews. I expected the 1080i to have a somewhat noisy picture, but it did not. I would recommend using an Avia DVD calibration disc to calibrate your TV. On the audio side, the unit performed well, and I tested the DVD player with a DVD-Audio disc, and it sounded great. Finally, I did test the unit using Ritek G04 4x DVD-R that I recorded movies on with Shrink/Nero , and the unit had no playback problems.

Sounds good. How much were you able to get it for? Did it include a DVI cable? Did you check to see if it does in fact scale to 720p and 1080i through the component video outputs in addition to the DVI out?

Maybe it is a better buy than the Zenith 318 everyone is raving about...

Yes, it comes with the DVI cable. I bought it for $199.99, but I probably could have found it for $189.99. The unit does not scale up to 720p or 1080i in the component connection. On my tv I am just using the DVI, but I also connected the component video just in case I was unable to adjust the screen size for 4.3 material in 480p on the DVI connection. However my tv can adjust the DVD picture (zooming) with 4.3 material in 480p DVI connection but not when I scale that image to 720p or 1080i. I have now watched even more movies and everything is still looking great.
