  1. Okay, first post, I must be desparate.

    I've got 2 .mpg files.
    Both:
    Picture Size: 352 x 240
    Bit rate: 1150000 bits/sec
    Frame rate: 29.97 frames/sec
I should mention at this point, that using MS Media Player 7, I can view BOTH of these clips, with good quality.

One of these files, I burned using Easy CD Creator 4, Video CD, etc. Followed the instructions from the left here <---.
This VCD works fine on standalone DVD player, and computer.

I burn the second file, using Easy CD Creator 4, same instructions, same procedure, VCD comes out as crap. Every time I burn it.

The first file can be burned to any type of media, and can be viewed fine. The second file, I've tried every type of media, every speed of burn, moved between disc-at-once to track-at-once, RE-encoded(de-mxp'd, re-mxp'd) it with TMPGEnc, to make sure it wasn't a problem with MPEG....sacrificed a goat, swung the dead cat over my head while chanting burn, burn, burn....

I don't know what else to do to make this thing work.

Help me, please. I am a newbie to burning VCD's, but not to burning, and not to video editing. I do know what I'm talking about, and what you're all talking about, but I'M STUCK, AND I CAN'T STAND IT!!!

    Thanks in advance,

  2. When I first started making VCDs about 2 years ago, I used Easy CD Creator 4 too. I eventually gave up using it because I had strange intermittent problems...

Have you tried using Nero? It is more than adequate for a simple VCD (i.e., no menus).

Alternatively, you could try VCDImager. VCDImager v0.7.x branch is the newer version and with it, you can create very very complex VCD structures indeed. There are a few GUIs out (e.g., TSCV and VCDEasy) that can get you on your feet. I've written an article series on how to author VCDs with VCDImager v0.7.x here: http://www.geocities.com/medinotes/vcd

If you are looking for something really simple, you could try VCDImager v0.6.2 + VCDImagerGUI. This used to be available for download on this site (look in "Tools&quot. This older version didn't allow you to create the complex menus of the newer one, but it's great if you just want a simple single track or multitrack VCD (it's just a matter of loading your mpegs).

VCDImager creates disc images in the CUE/BIN format. I wrote an article on how to burn these here: http://www.geocities.com/medinotes/vcd/burning_cuebin_images.html

One of the programs described is completely freeware.

    Good luck.

    Regards.
