I've used a program called Polderbits Sound Recorder for 2 years now, works great. I believe you can download a trial version of the program.

Stand back it may explode! I have used nero wave editor. I ain't thrilled with it but it worked. I hate to be the one to tell you to look in the tool section but look. There are a couple of free software titles, a couple low priced ones and some that for the money that they want should come with all your favorite tunes already on a CD. It depends on just what you want to do. A simple copy shouldn't be all that hard to do. But if you want to clean any pops or hiss or mess around with the settings expect to pay more and learn more. The PC tape thingy looked cool to me but at the other post it got laughs. I would get one for fun but I can think of other things to blow my cash on (rent, utilities, food). I use an old Kenwood tape deck. I use a cable that goes from two RCA type jacks to a 1/8" stereo jack to my PC line in. You may already have some software that will do the trick (it seems to me that Real Player or Musicmatch will do it or you may need the upgraded version) at any rate I do recall a problem I had. I couldn't get the sound into my PC. The wires were hooked up good and everything. But no sound. After some time cussing and raising hell and throwing temper tantrums I figured out that the sound control screen wasn't expanded enough to see that the line in had been muted! So this early bad start has kind of put me off of dubbing some 100+ old cassets to CD. But don't let this discourage you. It is a lesson to pay attention to what is going on in your world. Have fun and keep us posted!
IS IT SUPPOSED TO SMOKE LIKE THAT?

  6. Hi, Sorry for entering in this thread but I have a query? Is there any recording software which can separate the songs by looking the gap between songs and separate these songs into separate files after recording my cassatte in a single file? Thanks

    www.cdwave.com or www.etree.org/cdwave.html

I don't recommend using "auto split" because of soft passages in songs.

Yes, LP Ripper works quite well and has preview and editing capabilities if you want to be sure that the songs start where you want them to.

I second the vote for Polderbits. I have also used it for the last couple of years & have found it to be the easyist to use after trying various others. It will rip anything audio, records, tapes, from the internet in either mp3 or wav. And yes it will break down a whole side into individual cuts. I also use Total Recorder to capture audio from the internet. Both work great. They are shareware but very inexpensive & worth the price for the ease of use.
