I've heard this was possible and that people sometimes use it to command all their equipment from one place as well as program elements to work together using the IR port standard on most laptops. Has anyone done this? Are there programs available for it?

  3. Aren't they already doing that with PDA's?

If there is an existing project maybe there is already a Windows port.

yeah i have an old Palm III and there are a few progs for it to use as a remote for tv's and vcr's. im wondering if you could use the ir port on the laptop with a wireless keyboard and mouse. that way, i could hook my laptop up to my big tv, and sit on the couch with a mouse and key board and surf the net.
